They represent the Gospel (of Jesus that is) in a way that shakes, upheaves, frustrates and obliterates the message of the religious. They don't care to satisfy the Pharisee, so to speak, but desire for the hurt and broken to meet Jesus in a way that is removed from man-made obligation, opinion and judgement as much as possible. They upset and it's not always pretty but they deeply care about people, even those who hate them.
